Finally made contact on the 24th, must have been either ground wave or short skip. I have a vertical 2 feet off the ground and had a 59+ report from Philadelphia, Pa. Will be checking from time to time for when the QSL card and certificate becomes available.

I tried many times to contact W3A whenever I heard them on. Only problem is, there was a very strong carrier which came on and off right on their frequency everytime. At times they made very rude remarks.

20 over signals here in Calgary. Excellent operator on 14252. (Jim). Congratulations.
I wish Barack Obama the very best with his tremendous task, also I hope everyone gives him a chance to turn things around. Hopefully, he will establish good relations with the rest of the world again.

Ola Horacio
Being a fine Saturday everyone in Buenos Aires is out walking, siting in the
parks, and just enjoying the weather. Marilyn discovered a "tienda" where she
found all of the treasures money could buy at the right price.
Me, I bought a belt, size 105 cm., that still had an old price tag and looked
like something from one of our pueblos, except this one had VF leather.
(inflation of prices is something to be dealt with in Argentina).
M took a picture of the movie ad for Appaloosa staring Ed Harris . Timo
was a junior star in this movie and so the attraction . Most of the movies here are in English with Spanish subtitles and
that is a fair way to learn the language albeit not a 1:1 translation.
We met with Horacio (see his web page by Googling LU1BJW) . Horacio is both a
Rotarian and a ham radio operator. What a treat it is to converse with a person
who can say it like it is. We talked economy, politics, differences and
similarities and all of the things we wonder about. We drove by Horacio's casa
which is on a main avenue. Their is this multistory building with the most
elaborate antenna system one could conjure. North America is a hop-skip for him.
We hope to have Horacio visit us in New Mexico.

So we went to Mass again and I am always lifted to see the faithful. After we
left we walked another 5 miles and found a Japanese restaurant where we sat
outside eating sukiyaki and drinking "joven" Chardonnay. It was still
pretty good stuff. It sure helped me sleep good.

It rained last night and that will cleanse the "mirda" off the sidewalks.
The fashion here is to hire a dog walker who walks your dog tied to maybe 9
others all day and for a price. I am told the dogs love it. The dogs here seem
to be very civil. Still, like all creatures, that which goes in one end comes
out the other.

I think we will go back to San Telmo today as it is a hoot. Bus 142 is the way
to go for just one peso. Maybe Monday we will cross the La Plata river to
Uraguay for just a day trip?

Hi Horacio,

Thanks for the „Buenos Aires - at Night tour“ during my short stay in your city some weeks ago. It was nice to meet you and to know to have a friend over there. I hope I have the chance to come again with some more time beside the business. Hope to meet you on HF soon.

Take care!
